Head of Procurement - FMCG

As the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for leading and managing the procurement function to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services to meet the company's strategic objectives. You will develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures that optimize procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, finance, operations, and marketing, to ensure seamless procurement operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your role will also involve managing supplier relationships, mitigating procurement risks, and monitoring procurement performance metrics to achieve procurement objectives and contribute to the company's overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective procurement operations in line with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing direction, coaching, and mentorship to optimize team performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify procurement requirements, establish specifications, and develop procurement plans that align with business needs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on criteria such as price, quality, delivery, and service to ensure optimal supplier performance and competitive advantage.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve favorable pricing, terms, and conditions, while managing procurement risks and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Monitor procurement performance metrics, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and contract compliance, and provide regular reports and insights to senior management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and key business partners to foster collaborative and strategic partnerships that drive procurement excellence.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, innovations, and best practices in procurement and consumer goods industry to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the consumer goods industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, processes, and tools, including strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier performance management.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing procurement teams, with a track record of achieving results and driving continuous improvement.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and terms with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to procurement, such as procurement ethics, anti-bribery, and anti-corruption laws.
  • Proficient in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are a plus.
