Assistant Manager – Logistics (Karawang Based) - Chemical Manufacture Industry
Talent Hunts Indonesia is an Executive Search Agency based in Jakarta, currently working with a leading Chemical Manufacture company in Karawang, who are looking for a highly strategic and experienced Assistant Manager – Logistics. This role is responsible for driving efficient, cost-effective, and accurate logistics operations by managing export bookings, transportation activities, regional shipment coordination, and critical stakeholder relationships while ensuring strict regulatory compliance. The position plays a vital part in maintaining optimum inventory, maximizing fleet utilization, and minimizing detention and demurrage costs to support seamless supply chain growth. The ideal candidate will be an analytical leader with extensive experience handling multi-modal transportation, freight forwarders, and custom house agents within the manufacturing or chemical sector.
Job Description:
- Export Booking Management: Manage and execute end-to-end export booking processes for all export shipments from the Company's facility, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery to international customers.
- Regional Logistics Operations: Handle comprehensive shipment management for associated regional facilities to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain while strictly minimizing detention and demurrage (D&D) costs.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Develop, negotiate, and manage strategic contracts with transportation providers, including tanker operators, container transporters, and freight forwarders to optimize cost efficiency.
- Customs Clearance Coordination: Manage and coordinate with Customs House Agents (CHA) for export operations, ensuring smooth customs clearance, regulatory compliance, and timely shipment processing.
- Inventory & Dispatch Planning: Monitor and maintain optimum finished goods (FG) inventory levels at the plant while supporting daily liquidation and strategic dispatch planning activities.
- Financial Reconciliation: Supervise freight forwarder and shipping line invoice reconciliation processes, ensuring accurate billing and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Cross-functional Alignment: Coordinate closely with plant operations and Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams to ensure shipment readiness and maintain accurate structural updates within the MATRIC system.
- Fleet Oversight: Oversee dedicated tanker fleet operations to maximize container utilization and ensure efficient fulfillment of domestic transportation requirements.
- Compliance & Improvement: Enforce full compliance with company policies, international transport regulations, and safety standards while continuously identifying cost optimization opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in logistics, export-import operations, transportation management, or supply chain management.
- Strong preference for candidates coming from the Manufacturing or Chemical industry.
- Deep expertise in international export documentation, customs clearance processes, and managing Customs House Agents (CHA).
- Proven track record in negotiating and managing freight forwarders, shipping lines, and large-scale transportation vendors.
- Familiarity with inventory control, shipment tracking, and SCM coordination systems (experience with MATRIC or equivalent ERP system is highly regarded).
- Strong leadership capability with a proven history of managing, mentoring, and developing logistics teams.
- Proficient in English (both spoken and written) for regional and international stakeholder coordination.
- Willing to be based in Karawang.
