Manager Equipment (Jakarta Based) - Mining Contractor

Talent Hunts Indonesia is an Executive Search Agency based in Jakarta, currently working with Local Painting Contractor Company, who are looking for talent for Quantity Surveyor. This role will be responsible for  managing the entire life cycle of mining equipment — from planning, procurement, utilization, maintenance, to disposal — to ensure optimal productivity, cost efficiency, and equipment reliability in support of HKI’s mining production and sustainability goals. This role focuses on strategic equipment planning, operational excellence, cost control, and technology integration to maximize asset performance and operational safety across mining projects.

Job Description:

  • Manage end-to-end mining equipment life cycle (planning, procurement, operation, maintenance, disposal).
  • Develop strategic policies and guidelines for heavy equipment management, including maintenance systems, replacement, and technology upgrades.
  • Create short-term and long-term Equipment Master Plans aligned with mining project needs and production targets.
  • Define and monitor key equipment KPIs: availability, utilization, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • Ensure all equipment operates optimally in compliance with production and K3LH (Safety, Health, and Environment) standards.
  • Supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Control operational costs (fuel, spare parts, maintenance, and downtime) within the allocated budget.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure effective and efficient equipment utilization.
  • Maintain strong relationships with heavy equipment and parts vendors (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi) for technical optimization and support.
  • Support HSSE functions by enforcing safe operating procedures and regular equipment inspections.
  • Implement digital monitoring systems (fleet management, telematics, IoT, GPS tracking, and fuel sensors) for improved control and efficiency.
  • Conduct equipment cost analysis and productivity benchmarking across projects.
  • Evaluate Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Return on Equipment Investment (ROI).
  • Develop and coach the equipment team (mechanics, operators, supervisors) to enhance technical competence and performance.
  • Prepare and execute training plans on heavy equipment maintenance and emerging technologies.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, efficiency, and safety awareness across all operational levels.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Engineering, or Mining Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the mining industry (contractor, mining services, or EPC), with at least 5 years in a managerial role overseeing heavy equipment operations.

  • Safety Management System (SMK3, OHSAS)
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willing to work in remote mining areas.
  • Professional certifications preferred:
  • POP / POM / POU Minerba
  • Maintenance Management Professional (MMP)
  • Certified Equipment Manager (CEM)
