Mechanical Engineer - Electric Vehicle
Expected activity, deliverables, accountability
Design & Planning:
- Translate product requirements into a high-level motorcycle concept and detailed specifications across different engineering streams.
- Define timeline, milestones, and deliverables for all streams (entire assembly, sub-assembly, parts, and components).
- Evaluate and analyze engineering calculations on simulation software, draft configuration settings, and assess the manufacturability of prototype design.
- Key deliverables include Detailed Engineering Design (DED).
- Generate styling options that are aligned with product requirements, target market segment, and brand identity
Prototyping:
- Converting DED to technical drawing, creating a playbook that includes fabrication work instructions and component-level quality checking.
- Create assembly and subassembly playbook
- Work with procurement team to source components and raw materials
- Monitor and quality checking: check if fabrication matches engineering specs.
- Execute component-level quality checking, implement root-cause analysis of No-GO component, generate deviation report, and update fabrication work instructions
- Assembling each component to sub-assemblies and sub-assemblies to the entire assembly
- Deliver motorcycle prototype and technical specifications of motorcycle prototype
- Prototype evaluation, engineering correction, and troubleshooting
- Review technical specs and quality checks based on DED and technical regulations related to motorcycle systems
- Designing, reviewing, and executing a series of engineering tests for reliability, manufacturability, and riding experience (dynamics, human-machine interaction, interface, etc.)
- Engineering correction and troubleshooting. Review prototype evaluation and generate a report of any corrective and preventive action necessary to discuss with the product lifecycle management team
- Design for production: collecting all related engineering data, playbook, and reports.
- Work with the manufacturing engineering team to generate updated DED, drawings, and instructions to be used for manufacturing purposes
Background and skills
- 10 years of experience and expertise in the Automotive and/or EV industry
